Janice (M): really?!….
She began to get excited as Chen might be able to help her to convince Mr Lim.

After what happened at Jim’s house previously, Janice already knew that Chen knew that she understood Hokkien.

Lim was speaking over the line.

He hung up and Janice blinked her eyes in confusion.
Janice (M): Mr Chen, why did you hang up?….
Chen (M): Just to show you that I know Lim personally…
Janice (M): yes…. I already believe you….. Can you call him again?…..
Chen did not speak, cocked his head and looked directly into her eyes.
Janice suddenly realized that in her anxiety, she had missed out the fact that there was no reason for him to help her.
Even though he did not speak, she knew what he was insinuating.
Janice (m): erm… I’ll think of something on my own….
She stood up, turned away from him and headed towards the front of the shop.

unfortunately in real life, I have encountered some of these kind of people before.
