Ep 27
1 July 2020 (Wednesday)
This morning, Sandy sent out an email to all the staff and shared that the company policy had been amended. The company was no longer prohibiting their employees from having any relationship within the company.
In the afternoon, Lucas received the signed contract from both the property developers. When he told Yuxin about it, she was pleasantly pleased when he told her that he would still give her the commission even though he was the one who had signed the contracts.
Jayden got his team to commence work on it.
2 July 2020 (Thursday)
Lucas received 3 of the signed contracts from his own customers in the morning and the 4th one told him that they will be sending before the end of the day.
Cory had already informed Matteo about the good news and Matteo called Lucas to congratulate him.
He also told Lucas that he had contacted and spoken to the owners of the 2 buildings on Lucas’s behalf and they had agreed to award the projects to them.
Matteo: Cory also did some other investigations…. the attack on our company was orchestrated by a foreign company in the Cayman Islands…..
Lucas: A foreign company? But sir, we were attacked by different local competitors of ours….
Matteo: yes…. these small competitors all had links back to that foreign company…. It’s owned by one of my competitor…. after this unsuccessful attempt, I don’t think that they will attack you again….. but Cory will continue to keep a look out in case they do anything else….
Lucas: yes sir….. thank you….
Matteo: Another thing….. Based on our investigations, both our salespeople had recently bought their own condo….. I don’t think we pay them so much that they can afford the property….. you’ll need to do the investigations from your end and eradicate the mole….
Lucas was surprised.
Lucas: Yuxin or Ethan?
Matteo: yes…. and the rest of the staff are fine…. Cory had checked and nothing seemed suspicious…..
Lucas: yes sir…..
Matteo: ok…. Good job…. And I’ll leave it to you to get the mole then…..
After Matteo had hung up, Lucas thought about the information that was shared to him.
Both his salespeople had been working with him for more than a year and currently, he did not suspect one more than the other but he knew that Matteo would not lie to him.
Yuxin was more money minded compared to Ethan whereas Ethan was lustful but either of them could still be swayed by these temptations.
As such Lucas began to plan how to find out which of them was a mole.
First, he called Jayden and proceeded to inform what he wanted Jayden to do. Initially Jayden was hesitant but Lucas decided to use the same trick that Matteo had used. Lucas told Jayden that if he was able to get information from Yuxin, Lucas would offer 10% of his stake in the company to Jayden.
Jayden agreed to help.
After that, he called Sandy and told her what had happened. She contemplated for a moment and agreed to help since she was now a shareholder.
Lucas knew that Ethan was lustful and he had seen how Sandy had seduced the supplier previously, so he was sure that she would be able to complete the task.
3 July 2020 (Friday)
Lucas stayed home with Amelia for the entire day and that night, Wilson texted Amelia and asked if she was free to meet up.
When she replied that she was not available and asked Wilson not to look for her anymore, he was surprised and called her.
Lucas was sitting beside her on the sofa when she answered the call.
Amelia: Please don’t call me any more…..
Wilson: why? I thought last week you said that you were interested to meet up again?……….
Amelia: I’ve changed my mind…. anyway, you already have the longer end of the stick…..
There was a moment of silence before he spoke again.
Wilson: hmmm….. ok. Fine then…. but whenever you are interested to look for me, you know my number…..
Amelia had already noticed Lucas’s surprised expressions when she was taking to Wilson. So after she hung up, she turned to her husband
Amelia: I won’t be meeting him ever again….
Lucas: yes… I heard you saying that to him… why did you change your mind?….
She spoke slowly.
Amelia: If you remember, I said I will meet him again only at the beginning of during our conversation in the car…. I was only trying to emphasize the gravity of the situation to you then…..
She shook her head deliberately.
Amelia: … but I didn’t bring it up any more…… and now that you’ve done it with Sandy….. so we are even…. I don’t want to meet him again…..
He understood what she meant.
Amelia: as long as I have you…. I’m more than happy…..

Over the weekend, the couple visited their parents and there was no updates from Jayden or Sandy.
6 July 2020 (Monday)
Lucas stayed at home with Amelia since she did not want to be in the office.
After lunch, Jayden called up Lucas to inform him that he had already met up with Yuxin in the morning on the pretext that he was unsure about something on the existing projects.
After their discussion, Jayden had discretely asked if she wanted to make more money. Jayden told her that he had a contact who would offer “marketing fees” for any new opportunities that she passed to him but she rejected him.
She told him that even though the offer was attractive, she had targets to meet and by introducing Jayden’s contact the new projects, she would not be able to meet her targets in the company.
He did not know how to ask her about the condo and that was not brought during their discussion.
With that, Lucas told Jayden to meet him in the office in an hour time. After that, he called up Sandy and gave her a brief overview before asking her to meet him in the office as well.
When all 3 of them were in the office, Jayden repeated his story to Sandy. When he was done, Sandy told them about her meeting with Ethan.
During their meeting over the weekend, Sandy had discretely asked Ethan if he wanted to make more money. He was interested and even asked about how much the “marketing fees” were and some other details.
Aside from the “marketing fees”, Ethan told her that his condo was paid by his parents.
Jayden: there….. I think it’s clear that it’s Ethan right?….
Sandy and Jayden agreed unanimously.
Lucas: ok…. we’ll call him back now and listen to what he has to say……..
Ethan arrived at the office in about an hour. He was surprised to see the management team waiting for him.
When Lucas queried him about what Sandy had told him, he stared at Sandy angrily but did not defend himself.
Lucas: so…. I just want to know why you did that…..
Ethan: the company is paying us so little…. what do you expect?!… anyway, I quit….
He went back to his desk and Jayden followed him to make sure that he did not take away any of the company stuff.
Ethan left the company before lunch.
Later that night, Lucas shared the information with Matteo that the mole had been caught and Matteo congratulated him.

The unprecedented attack on the company was only known to a few people and most of Jayden’s team remained unaware. So the activities in the office had been as per normal and with all the new contracts signed, the staff were just focused on delivering all the projects in the pipeline.
Although Ravi had left the company and there were so many projects, Jayden insisted that he did not need a replacement staff. Lucas suspected that it was because Jayden now owned 5% of the company and was trying to save some cost.
Since that day when Amelia caught them in the office, Sandy had not approached Lucas for any sexual matters any more. Perhaps she was embarrassed that she was caught or perhaps she was suspecting that he was now a couple with Amelia, Lucas did not ask her about it.
2 weeks after Ethan left the company, Lucas made an offer to a new salesperson and he would be joining in a month’s time.
After the attack, Lucas was glad that life in the company had returned to normal.
On top of the 8 projects, Lucas and Yuxin managed to secure a few other new projects and their cash flow was back to normal. As the staff had also been working hard, Sandy proposed to reward them with a staycation.
Lucas, Jayden and Matteo agreed to the idea and they came up with a sizeable budget for the staycation.
After Sandy did a random selection exercise, Tay and Felix were chosen to be the organizing committee.
Initially, Felix and Tay went to Sandy for ideas since she was the HR person but she deferred them to Lucas since he was the major shareholder.
They began to go to Lucas to get his ideas and approval for their event planning. When Lucas told them to take it as if they were planning for a friends get together session and to think of him as their friend, the 2 employees were skeptical.
They told Lucas that they were afraid that they might go overboard and Lucas might fire them. After Lucas sent them an email to give his assurance for the staycation, they finally stopped going back to him.
Due to the re-opening of hotels for staycation purposes and because the entire country could not travel out of the country easily, almost all the rooms were snatched up as soon as they were released for bookings.
As such, the planning team only managed to secure one available date which was in the middle of August for the hotel rooms.
Unfortunately not everyone in the company could make it for that date.
Sandy, Yuxin, Jayden and Eric were unable to attend because they had family matters on that weekend but Weijie, Joey, Tay and Felix were able to make it.
Since there was no other dates that were available, Lucas gave them the go ahead to book the rooms.
15 August 2020 (Saturday)
After Lucas had given them full autonomy, the planning committee had not shared any details and Lucas had no idea which hotel they had booked or what were the plans for the day.
Felix and Tay had arranged for everyone to meet at VivoCity at 1pm.
Lucas had decided not to drive that day and the couple took a train there.
Felix, Tay, Weijie and Joey were already there when they arrived.
Felix was in his early thirties while the other 2 guys were around Lucas’s age.

After that, Felix and Tay brought them to Sentosa for their check in and that was when everyone found out that they had booked a 3 bedroom villa.
However, they were not allowed into their villa because of the ongoing regulations whereby only 5 guests were allowed. Felix and Tay had forgotten to take this into account and it seemed as if their staycation was going to be a failure when Weijie and Joey spoke to the front desk staff.

They presented their ID and it showed that they were indeed staying at the same location.
WeiJie: Please register us as the host…. Having the 4 of them visiting us are within the regulations…..
The staff discontinued his protest and got a butler to show them to the villa.

Joey: yes… and we only moved into the rented place 2 weeks ago…..

Everyone was looking at her now and Amelia knew she was trapped.

When I received reviews, it made me want to write some more.
Over the years, I realized that the way I write had changed a fair bit.
Initially, I wrote the stories on the fly. Some updates were short but they come fast and furious. Previously, there were many more bros who supported me then and gave me the motivation to keep updating.
However, as I grow older and met less people, my inspirations began to slow down and I started to have difficulties to come up with something on the fly.
As such, I began to need more time to plan for my story.
Also if you noticed, my stories also started to lessen down on the vivid details but more of progression.
Although there are less feedback and encouragement nowadays, I hoped that u are still enjoying my stories.
I will continue to write stories for everyone until one day when people ask me to stop to do so or when I don’t see any more reviews any more.
Because when that happens, it means that my stories are stale and is not bringing any more entertainment value to anyone.
As such, I am still seeing nice replies here and is in the progress of starting another story.
I will post it once I have completed it.
