I was concerned about Kai’s progression, I was concerned if he was too aggressive and end up scaring off Stephanie. But for now all I can do is wait, and at the mean time I paged Jane and we spoke.
Jane: Eh, you really want to meet me ah?
Me: ah bo, everyday talk also dunno how you look like.
Jane: haha, wait you see me I think u scared.
Me: why?
Jane: because I know your little secret.
Me: huh? What secret also I tell you one.
Jane: We meet then I tell you lor, or you see me then you know already. This is not something you told me.
During that call, I was puzzled about what could Jane have known, was it about the girls? Was it about Christina? We spoke for 30mins before hanging up, but that secret she mention was not on my mind long. I waited as the clock ticks and soon it was already 10pm, there were no news from Ah Kai.
My pager beeped and I checked my voicemail, it turns out that Jasmine was as concern over the matter as I was and was asking me how did Ah Kai progress. All I could do was reply her voicemail saying : No news yet.
I was tormenting waiting for Ah Kai, and I paged him at 1030pm. I was thinking maybe he did not want to break the bad news to me. It took him another 15mins to call back, it was time to know if this plan could go on.
Me: Kai how is it.
Kai: Aiyah, who you talking about, I am Ah Kai leh.
Me: Mai knn lah, how is it?
Kai: We talk a lot lor, but hor your info no good leh?
Me: Why leh.
Kai: she like to heard me say my Ah Beng story more leh.
Me: huh?
Kai: That is why we talk so long.
Me: So she got say what?
Kai: She hear my story, know I fighter. She melt already, keep saying I like really can fight.
Me: So you got ask her talk again tomorrow.
Kai: Yah, she say tomorrow ask me page her when I free.
I was happy that Kai managed to clear the first hurdle, I guess he has his charms when it comes to certain girls. I did Not care mucht as long as there was progression and I left Jasmine a voicemail telling her that. That night I did not think much, I was too tired and fell asleep almost immediately.
I guess everyone is by now very familiar with my routine and I will skip that and jump straight to me walking to the bus stop. And someone tapped me on the shoulder, it was Evon.
Me: Eh, why you here? Your house just beside the bus stop right.
Evon: No reason lor.
As we near the bus stop Evon pulled my hand.
Evon: Don’t go up!
Me: Why?
Evon: from there my mother can see lah.
I catch her hint, but we did not do much I held her from behind as we waited for our bus. And when her bus was coming, I held onto her hand holding on to her ( those kind of l can’t bear to let you go type of hold).
Evon: I have to go already wait I miss my bus.
I pulled her and gave her a peck on the cheek.
Me: bye bye.
I followed behind her as she ran towards her bus, she boarded it and was smiling sweetly at me when the bus left. My bus came later and I boarded it and went to school.
At school all was normal, Ah Kai would come to me and tell me about Stephanie.
Ah Kai: Eh Yang, thanks leh that Stephanie not bad leh.
Me: Tell you already better than that Evelyn.
Ah Kai: yah lor, some more her face abit Ang mo, I see already also high.
Me: haha, you so fast forget about that Evelyn liaoz ah
Ah Kai: This Stephanie better small size, good to carry and Jack.
Ah Kai clench his fist holding them in front of himself and thrust his hips.
Me: Get already then say la.
Ah Kai: Yang, dun worry lah , this one I confirm get one.
The rest of the day was really uneventful, Ah Kai carried on finding his underlings and I smoked with Keong in the toilet during recess. the rest of the day was boring, I was laying on my table waiting for school to end.
I met the girls after school, we went for lunch at Mos burger. There was something different about the atmosphere today, as all of them were too quiet for me. Ann sat beside me, and I could see Felicia and Jasmine nudging each other.
Felicia: idiot, Jasmine to thing to tell you.
Jasmine: Oei, I thought we agreed you will be the one telling him?
Ann tapped me in the arm and smiled: Jasmine wants to reinstate the “wives” thingy.
Jasmine with her eyes wide looking at Ann: It’s not only me, they too wanted it. I merely just agreed with them.
Felicia: Eh……. Jasmine yesterday is you ask first one leh.
Ann chuckled and Jasmine buries her head munching her burger.
Me: Yesterday?
Felicia: Yah Lor, Jasmine page me one.
The girls has once again form their little alliance, paging each other and talking about things without my knowledge.
Jasmine: so what you think, don’t say we never consult you.
Me: Erm can don’t want or not.
All 3 girls looked at me with their eyes wide open, I guess my refusal was something they did not expect.
Felicia: idiot, why you don’t want.
Me: I also don’t know how to explain?
Jasmine: he don’t like the idea then forget it
Ann: Jasmine…….
Felicia: Idiot say something leh.
Jasmine: Ok, we let him decide. Lawrence, you think about it and Let us know your thoughts.
Me: it’s never about me anyway…
The girls looked at me.
Felicia: Idiot, why you say that?
Me: True mah, you all ah very funny one, now say ok. Then later I hold either one of you, the other two get upset. Then I maybe want to know you all better want to spend some private moments with either one of you also cannot. I think you girl go and think properly first then tell me if you all want to reinstate this thing.
The girls looked at each other and I think they understood what I said, Felicia told me they needed to discuss over what I just say and I told them that I would be going home first. I left them and went home, an hour later my pager beeped.

Ah Kai voicemail: Yang, daichi Toa teow liao (Big issue) Stephane want to meet!
My eyes widen hearing this voicemail, I paged Ah Kai immediately and he was quick to return my call.
Me: why she suddenly want to meet? Tell her you not free la.
Kai: pai seh brother, I backside itchy page her tell her I bored.
Me: Knn tell you everyday 9pm now what time only?
Kai: pai seh lah, then now how?
Me: go meet lah still can how. ( I thought about Ah Kai’s super Beng image and I believe this was destined to be a failure.)
Kai: Erm, yang I can handle her one la. But got one small problem.
Me: what?
Kai: I Don’t have money leh.
Me: then how?
Kai: I go Toa payoh mah then I meet you at bishan MRT lor.
Me: Okok
I paged Jasmine and told her about what happened she insisted on us following to see how things develop, we met at the MRT station as I waited for Ah Kai.
Jasmine: Lawrence, we have a solution to what you just said.
Me looking at Jasmine: Solution?
Felicia: heehee, we very clever one.
Jasmine: we suggest taking turns.
I did not answer Jasmine and just smiled at her.
Ah Kai had arrived and I passed him a $50 dollar note before we took a train to Toa payoh, (for those that think I am damn rich at that time, the money came from the envelope Joanne gave me) Ah Kai told us he was meeting Stephanie at the library. We asked him to go ahead as we made a detour walking along the shops beside the main road, passing a block with a lot of uncles playing chess before reaching the fountain in front of the library.
Jasmine and Ann hid in the block, as Felicia and I inch forward to try and see how Ah Kai is doing.
I was shocked, as Ah Kai was already surrounded by a few Ah Bengs. (gangsters)
Could it be that Stephanie had seen through our plot? could Pris has betrayed me?
I almost ran toward Ah Kai, but Felicia held me back asking me to wait.
All I could hear was Ah Kai shouting his name and he engaged in a brawl with the Ah Bengs, Ah Kai manage only to hold them off for a moment and beating one of them to the ground. But he was soon attacked by the two others which he barely held up. I could still remember that scene as Ah Kai grabbed Stephanie’s hand pulling her running away from the fight. I think I saw Stephanie smiling as she ran with Ah Kai.

The Ah Bengs gave chase, as Ah Kai and Stephanie both disappeared into the alley.
Jasmine and Ann ran to us.
Jasmine:what happened?
Me: what you see and what is the same, then you ask me.
We walked around and neither did we find Ah Kai or Stephanie, we did bump into the Ah Bengs later but all all we did was hung our head low and walk pass them.
Jasmine and Ann soon needed to go home, and I was left with Felicia.
I asked Felicia if she wanted dinner together, and we proceeded to a nearby coffee shop to have our dinner. After dinner Felicia slapped hard on my shoulder,
talking me to look towards a direction.
It was Ah Kai, and he was still with Stephanie.
