She then put a finger on my lips and gently shaking her head. So I hugged her close and we cuddled in silence for the next few minutes. Vaguely, I saw a drop of tear in her eye. I just couldn’t comprehend what was going on. After awhile, she took my phone (which was as usual at the side of the bed), took a quick look at the time, and suggested us to take a shower together. She said she has got something important to do early the next morning and she wouldn’t be sleeping over tonight. So we bathed together and left the house. I wanted to see her home, but she insisted that it wasn’t necessary. So I went home after I saw her off a cab with a big question mark still left unanswered in my head. I sent her a good night text and slept like a log until Sunday afternoon. When I woke up, I saw a message from her…
“Dear, thanks for everything that you had done for me over these past few months. I know that you are really a very good man and I know just too well that I am not good enough for you. By any chance, we wouldn’t be seeing each other anymore, but nonetheless, you’ll always be a part of me. Please take care of yourself and I sincerely wish that you would find your true love soon - Jess”
I rang her phone immediately after reading her text, but her phone was switched off. I kept trying for half an hour before I gave up. I decided to call Kelly, Jess’s bestie as I remembered that Jess had told me during dinner that they met recently.
Me: Kelly? This is Joe
Kelly: Oh hi Joe (in a surprised tone)
Me: Did Jess contact you?
Kelly: She didn’t, why is anything wrong?
Me: It’s ok, thanks Kelly
I was about to cut the line when I heard Kelly saying “wait”
Kelly: Joe wait!!
Me: Yes?
Kelly: Actually, Jess & I met up recently… and she told me about you
Me: Huh?? (really surprised) What did she tell you?
Kelly: Erm… She told me that you two were sort of in a relationship and she had predicted that you would call me if she suddenly had went missing
Me: Please carry on, what else did she say??
Kelly: She told me she would be leaving the country, to Thailand I think…
Me: (panicky) Anything else? Did she say anything about me?
Kelly: Yes, she have a note for you actually
Me: Is it convenient for me to meet you now? Can I get it from you?
Kelly: ok
I left the house in a hurry to meet Kelly at her place. Kelly met me at her void deck, passed me the note and left for work. Holding the note which I was hesitant to read, I went home, settle down then unfold the note which Jess had left for me…
“Dear, I guess Kelly would have told you that I’m leaving the country. I sincerely want to thank you for sheltering me this past few months. I really felt loved whenever I was with you. Your house was like a big shelter for me, away from my problems, away from the me which I detest facing. Infront of you, I could be as wild as I wanna be and you would condone my every behavior. There is really nothing much which I could do for you except to fulfill your wish and to have a proper date with you. I really hope you’ll enjoy the date. Please do take care of yourself and once again thank you for everything. You’ll always be a part of me - Jess”

That was the last I ever heard from Jess. I only found out that Jess left for Thailand that very Sunday we parted when Kelly updated me a few months later. She said that Jess contacted her saying that she is with her bf whom used to work as a singer in one of the Thai discos in Singapore. She went Thailand together with him when his work contract ended. I never saw Jess ever again but I sure hope she is happily living in good hands. I eventually lost contact with Kelly too, and that marks the end of my experience.
