Few days ago, i got a scam call. Please let ur father, mother, aunty, uncle or who ever know. dont kena tricked into such ongoing phone scams.
Below is the detailed conversation. The conversation was in mandarin but for the sake of everyone, i’ve translated it into english.
Scamer: Hello, We are calling from 万辉餐饮有限公司. Congrats you are our lucky winner. You have won HKD 1.08 Million which is about sgd 180k.
Me: ( thinking to myself, ya la scam.. but hear more to see what they want )
Scamer: We would like to ask you afew questions as survey.
Me: ok ask lor.
Scamer: What is your name?
Me: Tan Gu Gu ( Wait long long)
Scamer: Do you prefer chinese food or western food?
Me: Chinese food
Scamer: Do you like the food spicy or non-spicy?
Me: Anything also can la
Scamer: Ok good, can you tell me singaporeans like what kind of flavor?
Me: what also eat. as long as delicious
Scamer: Ok we have finish the survey. Why do you not sound excited about winning so much money?
Me: This kind of things too good to be true. So i dont expect anything from it.
Scamer: We assure you that our company is legal and is a big company. We are not like others who are out to cheat people.
Me: ok la. Anything else?
Scamer: We will now update your status with our finance dept and will call you again.
Me: ok bye.
Scamer: Good bye and have a nice day.
2 days pass…
Scamer called again but now by another person.
Scamer2: Hello, Tan Gu Gu. We are calling from xxxxxx, do you still remember talking to our surveryor the other day?
Me: Yes. why?
Scamer2: Gong Xi Ni. We have confirm your winnings and did you happen to watch ATV on 4th Dec 2012 4-6pm. Our company event and that your name and number was picked up by computer generated for those who completed the survey.
Me: Yah i got watch and i saw my name appear. I was waiting for you to call me.
Scamer2: (paused for awhile)
Me: haha no lah i joking only.
Scamer2: Today we need you to provide your full name, IC number or Passport no. and your bank account so that we can transfer the HKD1.08 Million to you.
Me: oh okay. my name tan gu gu.
Scamer2: your age?
Me: 34 ( head counting 2012 - 1978 = 34 )
Scamer2: Ok Mr tan, your IC or passport no.
Me: IC number : S7878678U
Scamer2: wow your ic number got 6 7 8 all the lucky number. you must be a very lucky person. May i know what are you doing? employed or doing business?
Me: oh i do my own business selling bra n panties
Scamer2: knowing how to earn $ from female apparel is very good as females like to shop alot. you are young and accomplished. you are a very lucky person because you have won our 3rd prize too. HKD 1.08 milliong
Me: yah i think i am lucky too cos you called.
Scamer2: ok now we need your bank account, any account will do because we will transfer the money to you and u will received it earliest by mon or tuesday.
Me: ok la. my bank is POSB 891-314-678
Scamer2: wow 678 again. Your bank account and your ic also quite similar. You sure is a lucky guy.
Me: I think so too. ( of cos la only PRC dont knw suchs codings )
Scamer2: Ok now i have your details. i will submit to the fund manager and she will call you back to confirm the details. By the way, my name is zhou wen hui. Thank you for your time.
Me: ok
1 hr later…
Scamer3: Hi mr tan. This is fund manager of xxxxxx company. Now i like to verify your id with you..
Me: okay.
….
….
…
…
..
Scamer3: Ok we will submit your details and have your money transfered to you the next business day. Thank you.
Me: ok bye bye
the next day… phone rings again.. same number. i knw this would be the end part.
Scamer4: Hello Mr Tan,
Me: Hello. who are you?
Scamer4: i am from the legal department of xxxxxx company. Today i am going to tell you. HK and Sg r very lawful country and that your prize of 1.08million needs to be placed under insurance and escrow service to prevent money laundering.
Me: oh. Then what am i suppose to do?
Scamer4: You will need to pay for insurance which is 2.4% of the total amount which is SGD4250 before we can proceed to transfer the money to you.
Me: Wa need to pay money ah.
Scamer4: The money can be refunded to you once the transfer is over. it is just an escrow service fee.
Me: oh like that ah. but i still dont feel safe leh. I tell you what, u pay for the insurance. when the $ in. i pay u double ok?
Scamer4: it is against our company policy to do that. We cannot help you.
Me: oh. then no choice lor.
Scamer4: why you dont sound worried about your prize money? it is HKD 1.08million.
Me: i told you before, have then have. no then never mind and im not desperate for it.
Scamer4: but our company choose you as the prize winner.. So are you saying you do not want the prize?
Me: ok lah i tell you what. tell your company i said the prize money can go to you and thank you for wasting your time on me, i am just too free to entertain your call because from the start i know this is a fake call. Want to cheat people try better ways. Dont think we sg ppl stupid to fall for such scams..
After hearing that, The scamer4 hung up the call.

I show your post to my DIL…. she says can get copy of the phone conversations as all mobile calls are recorded. True or not? My DIL always like to joke with me.

i got a call from simi 总商会 want to give me prize blah blah. no time to entertain, hang up.
they can call and say my name, not cold-call type. their phone list now comes with name (to make it more realistic)

got a chance to kacao kacao 2-3 gal in the phone, talk dirty and naughty to them is so fun
. U can hear them is angry but still have to tolerate to u in the phone.
Mine also end at 4th call.

Think its an ongoing scam in sg right now. One of my buddy replied to me saying he received such call last week. Please notify family members n friends don’t get cheated. God bless everyone.
Yes nowadays they use sweet sweet PRC Mei Mei to talk to you. Very interesting sometimes to just 聊天 with them.
These scams are not new. Yet some still falls for it.
Those who believed that they are lucky must also believe that the caller has no family member or friends to share this big win. They have to give this big prize to YOU ,a complete stranger. If you are the caller will you do that ?
I kena one before, i go along and tell them I xfer the money already. Please check, they call me back tell me have not.
I say I 100% xfer liao, I even got the receipt. If dont have I must report police. They neber call me from than on.
Serves them rite, if everyone cooperate & tekan them back. Hopefully they’ll give up!

Given the technology nowadays.. Possibly could trace the phone conversations.. Hope everyone who reads this can share with their family members and friends. Yes this is kind of a old scam method but some people still fall for it.
